Celebrating International Women’s Day – in Sydney

sunrise over one of my favourite sights in the world - Sydney Harbour Bridge

I shall be in Sydney on March 8th, as I was last year when I ran a one-day event for International Women’s Day.  This year, one of my favourite organisations, Women for Women International (WFWI), has organised a Bridge Walk (in New York and London) and similar events with thousands of women (and men) worldwide gathering on bridges from San Francisco to Congo.

WfWI focusses on women survivors of war and conflict.   Women are always in the majority here: 70% of the world’s poor are women and 75% of civilian war victims are women and children.    WfWI provide resources to move from crisis and poverty to stability and self-sufficiency: they’re changing the world one woman at a time.  The idea of the event on March 8th is to demonstrate that women can build the bridges to peace and development.

I’ll be there on Sydney Bridge at 11am. (Find out more here if you are interested).    Then following that at 2pm I am co-hosting a lunch and Women’s Gathering at a friend’s large house in nearby Vaucluse.  It’s important for women to gather and along with co-host Nicky Harper, we’re providing a space, not only for nourishing food, but also to share our experiences of the day and to review some of the incredible ways that the power of the feminine is rising around the world. More and more women taking on new kinds of leadership, many others experiencing great personal shifts and responding to calls to do and be more.

If you are in Sydney, join us for the Women’s Lunch: see the invitation and book here.

Women for Women International is an incredible organisation really creating change. Read my blog story from when I met the founder Zainab Salbi.
